Will Mid-range Phones Dominate the Market This Year?

Ten years after the release of the iPhone, smartphones are still among the most desirable gadgets on the end-user part. The focus of the average smartphone owner seems to have shifted a bit from the flagship models that can cost an arm and a leg to more affordable yet high-performance handsets that offer a better price-performance ratio. At least this is what some statistics suggest – Apple’s smartphone sales have declined last year for two consecutive quarters. At the same time, some changed have occurred on the market: Nokia has returned in force, revealing several friendly-priced handsets, and the biggest manufacturers are starting to feel the pressure from emerging brands from all over the world. Besides, mid-range phones have become more attractive to the average user.

Why mid-range Phones?

The average smartphone user doesn’t really need a flagship phone for everyday use. Games are the most power-hungry app category for smartphones today (much like on PC), yet the majority of smartphone owners don’t really play hardware-intensive games on the go. Instead, they play what’s closer to Vegas Palms mobile gaming app – simpler, more casual games instead of complex titles with amazing visuals and the need for a powerful hardware. The games at the Vegas Palms, for example, will run smoothly on most smartphones on the market today, even handsets with older operating systems. The Vegas Palms Mobile doesn’t pressure them – like PC games did back in the day – to replace their older models with new, more powerful ones. And even if they do, they seek an alternative that’s friendlier to their budgets.

And there are enough exciting and sufficiently powerful smartphones currently on the market to satisfy their needs. Also if you are a photography enthusiast and you think that only high-end smartphone can click better pictures then think twice because there are some gems in the mid range those can full fill your photography desire.  Few of them mentioned below.

Great Mid-range Phones

The Moto G5 Plus, revealed this April, is a great example for a budget-friendly phone with an impressive hardware. It can take care of all the needs of an average smartphone user: it has a 12-megapixel camera capable of recording 4K video, it has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon system-on-a chip running at 2GHz, up to 4GB of RAM (depending on the variant), all the sensors and features a modern smartphone needs, and all this with a price tag starting at $229.99 (motorola.com).

Honor 8 is really meant for photography as it has dual camera support along 4 GB RAM, 32 GB ROM that can expandable Up to 128 GB. It has 12MP + 12MP Dual Rear Camera and 8MP Front Camera. For performance it runs on Hisilicon Kirin 950 – ARM Cortex A72 + ARM Cortex A53 Processor. Its price tag is quite friendly and comes around $300.

Lenovo’s P2 also comes with an octa-core Qualcomm SoC running at 2GHz, up to 4GB of RAM, and up to 64GB of internal storage (depending on the variant) – it is in many ways similar to the model above. What it also has is a larger screen (5.5″ Super AMOLED), a slightly better camera (13MP, capable of recording 4K video), and a huge battery (5100 mAh) that the manufacturer claims will allow the phone to go up to three days without charge (depending on how it’s used, of course). Its price tag is quite friendly, too – it costs between $250 and $300, depending on the model.

Last but not least, let’s take a look at Samsung’s own contender, the Galaxy A5. With an octa-core 1.9GHz CPU, a 5.2″ Super AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM, it’s not the brightest bulb in the box, and its price (around $450) also doesn’t make it the most affordable of them all. Yet it comes with the small things that make it a worthy choice: its premium design, it’s water-resistant build, its amazing 16-megapixel camera, and an amazing screen. A worthy alternative for the fans of the South Korean manufacturer’s models but an aversion to spend a fortune on the S7.

This year might be the year of the mid-range smartphone – unless something truly spectacular comes our way.
