Steps to install MailSpring client on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
There are three simple ways to install MailSpring on Ubuntu – one is using SNAP others are GUI and with the help of its executable Debian binary available on the official website.
#1st Way: using SNAP
1. Update Ubuntu 22.04
Before continuing further let’s once run the APT system update command to make sure everything is up to date.
sudo apt update
2. Install MailSpring using SNAP
Now, as we know all the latest Ubuntu Linux systems are coming out of the box with SNAP, hence we don’t need to install it manually. Just use it to fetch the packages we required for the installation of the Mailspring email client.
sudo snap install mailspring
To uninstall in the future: (optional)
sudo snap remove mailspring

3. Use GUI – Ubuntu 22.04 Software Center
Alternatively, you can simply open the GUI Ubuntu Software application, and search for this email client. Once you find it, select the same to install.
#3rd Way- using Debian binary
Another way to install this email client is using the already compiled binary in Deb format, available on the download page of the MailSpring website.
4. Open Command terminal
Of course, just like for the Snap command, we also need the terminal to download and install the packages easily of MailSpring. Hence, press CTRL+ALT+T.
5. Download MailSpring for Linux
On your command terminal run the below-given commands to download the latest version of the Mailspring for Linux.
sudo apt install wget -y wget https://updates.getmailspring.com/download?platform=linuxDeb -O mailspring.deb
6. Install Mailspring on Ubuntu 22.04
Finally, we have the required package, simply either use the
dpkg command or APT package manager to install the downloaded binary.
sudo apt install ./mailspring.deb
7. Run the email client
Once the installation is completed, go to Application launcher and there find the “Mailspring” when its icon appears, select the same to open.
8. Connect GMAIL
If you have an email account with Mailspring then use that otherwise we can go for an existing mail account with Gmail, Yahoo, and others… Here we are showing the steps for Gmail, however, the procedure will be the same for others.
Skip Mailspring ID
Select the Email account you want to connect to. Here we are going for Gmail.
You will see a login link to Gmail. Copy and paste the same into your system web browser. And after that log in to your email account. But don’t close the Mailspring application while doing this.
Uninstall or remove Mailspring
If you don’t require this open-source email client on your Ubuntu 22.04 Linux anymore, run the given command to uninstall it.
sudo apt autoremove --purge mailspring
