How to Install TeamViewer on Rocky Linux 8

Access your PC/laptop remotely or let others do the same by installing the TeamViewer Remote desktop application on Rocky Linux 8 using the command given here… 

TeamViewer is a popular application to access remote desktops. It enables devices to be controlled and serviced without having to be on site. Well, the software is free to use for personal purposes, however, TeamViewer Meeting allows 10 participants included in all three editions. The program is available in three editions Business, Corporate, and Premium.

1. Open Command terminal

Let’s run the system update command to achieve the latest state of installed packages and rebuild the system repository cache.

sudo dnf update

 

2. Enable EPEL repository

There are some dependencies which require by the Teamviewer to get installed on Rocky Linux 8 and available in Epel repository. Hence, first enable the same.

sudo dnf install epel-release -y
sudo dnf update -y

 

 

3. Download TeamViewer RPM packge binary

The packages to install TeamViewer are not available in the official repository, thus we have to download it from its official website. You can use the command given below in your terminal to get it without visiting TeamViewer’s website.

wget https://download.teamviewer.com/download/linux/teamviewer.x86_64.rpm

 

4. Install TeamViewer on Rocky Linux 8

Once the RPM binary of the remote desktop tool is on your system using the above command, let’s install it with the help of the DNF package manager.

sudo dnf install ./teamviewer.x86_64.rpm

 

5. Run this Remote Desktop tool

Well, we successfully have this popular tool on our Rocky Linux 8 system. It’s time to run it. Go to the Application launcher, search for the tool, and click to run the same when its icon appears.
