Samsung Pay is the mobile payments service launched by Samsung Electronics in India. Samsung Pay is an innovative payment solution offered by Samsung that allowing Bharat users to simply tap and ‘pay on the go’ using their registered cards, digital wallet PayTm as well as the government’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) into its app. To take forward the “Make for India” commitment the is also planning to integration the Samsung Pay with local payments solutions.

What is Samsung pay?

It is a mobile payment service by Samsung India Electronics Pvt. Ltd. that allows us to pay our bills without any credit or debit card.

Here Samsung introduces a Samsung Pay a method to use mobile payment services. Right note this service is available selectively on Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Yes, that means, if you want to get the benefits of this technology right now then you need a Samsung phones. The SamsungPay take all you credit and debit cards on your Samsung smartphone so that you can pay directly with your smartphone almost everywhere. The Mobile payment service works using MST or NFC technologies and the SamsungPay will replicate the physical card transaction on the card transaction terminals through Samsung smartphones. As company claimed that Samsung Pay protects your payment information with serval layers of security. It secures cards and digital payment transaction with Digital Tokenization, your physical card details are never stored on Smartphone and always remain secure. With SamsungPay each transaction uses an encrypted digital token this provides added security and makes it more secure than physical card transactions. All the transaction also required a fingerprint/ Pin authentication.  Samsung also uses a security called Samsung Knox, it is the highest rated mobile security platform in the entries mobility space.

How do I set up Samsung pay?

All eligible Samsung’ Galaxy smartphone users will receive a Samsung software update for enabling Samsung Pay. You need to update the phone and you will get a Samsung Pay icon. Tap that icon to get started.

 

  1. Launch the Samsung Pay app and tap the sign up for registering the new Samsung Account. Enter your email ID and password and follow the instruction given on the screen to register a new Samsung account.
  2. If you already have Samsung Account then tap the sign in option and sign in with your Samsung Account ID and Password.
  3. Once Samsung Account set up is done, tap Samsung Pay icon and then tap “Use Fingerprint” to register your Fingerprint.
  4. Apart from Fingerprint, you can set up SamsungPay Pin for payment Authentication. To set up Samsung Pay Pin, use ” Skip and Use Samsung Pay Pin” on Verification method page.
  5. Now you are ready for your Card registration.
  6. Tap Add to add your Debit/Credit Card. Now follow the instruction on the screen and you will receive an OTP to successfully register the card.
  7. The camera opens within the app. Use camera to Auto read your Card details. You can also enter the details manually.
  8. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Card registration.

What phones work with Samsung pay?

Right now Samsung Pay works only with high end Samsung phones such as the Galaxy S7, S6, S6 Edge, S6 Active , Galaxy Note 5,  Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy A7 (2016) and Galaxy A5 (2016), Galaxy A7 (2017) and Galaxy A5 (2017). Apart from the Samsung smartphone the Samsung Pay also works with Gear S2 (Beta with NFC only), and now Gear S3, but only for transactions on NFC terminals.  To get Samsung Pay functionality update your Samsung device.

Do you need NFC for SamsungPay?

Yes, we need NFC for Samsung Pay because many mobile payment service terminals use NFC (Near field communication) to perform the transaction. However, all the above-mentioned Samsung devices those can use for Samsung Pay have inbuilt NFC functionality.

What banks work with SamsungPay in India?

The list of banks those supported by SamsungPay in India are ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, SBI, Standard Chartered, Citi Bank, and American Express. Moreover, they also have American Express, Visa, and MasterCard as their network partners and Pine Labs is the Acceptance partner for PoS machines. Apart from banks the Samsung also has tied up with PayTM mobile wallet company and UPIs support via Axis Bank in the coming months.

How do you use Samsung pay?

To use SamsungPay, tap the SamsungPay app icon or swipe up the home button. Authorize app by simply scanning your fingerprint or entering your pin. Take the smartphone device near to PoS or mobile payment service terminal machine and hover the phone over the in-store card reader, and you done.
