How to automatically turn on battery saver on Windows 10 laptops

You might hate Windows 10 for screwing up your system after every update, lack of support for legacy applications and for other reasons. However, Windows 10 is a modern operating system with significant improvements over its predecessor Windows 8 and 8.1 and Windows 7, which is still one of my most favorite operating systems on computers that are not designed for Windows 10. With every single update of Windows 10, we get some neat new features to increase productivity and also boost the performance of our computers in the long run. Among the many new features on Windows 10, the battery saver mode is apparently new.

In the old versions of Windows, as well, there are several options to extend the battery life by reducing PC performance, reducing screen brightness and other things, when a computer is running on battery power. However, on Windows 10, everything is summed up within the Battery saver that acts just the same way as that of  Power saver on smartphones, where the background apps are limited, screen brightness is reduced, processor performance is limited and small other changes are made to extend battery life. Battery saver on Windows 10 or 8 is configured to automatically start when your battery power reaches 20%, you even can change this threshold whatsoever to configure battery saver to start automatically when your PC starts running on battery.

Let’s find out how you can automatically start battery saver on Windows 10, once your laptop or portable Windows 10 computer starts running on battery power.

The steps to follow

  1. Click on the Battery icon on your Windows 10 system tray and click on ‘Battery settings’.                                                                                                                                              Automatically enable Battery saver on Windows 10 1
  2. Under the ‘Battery saver’ tab, you can find, the settings to configured it to start automatically when the percentage is ‘20%’.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Power and sleep settings
  3. To automatically enable ‘Battery saver’, once your laptop starts running on battery power, use the slider to change it to ‘100%’.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Turn battery saver on automatically if my battery falls below
  4. Next time you turn off the AC power supply for your Windows 10 laptop, and it starts running on battery power, Power saver will automatically start without your intervention. However, if you prioritize PC performance over extended battery life for one session you can simply turn off it, from the quick settings by clicking on the system tray on Windows 10. Hence, the next time you start running your laptop on battery power, the Battery saver will get activated automatically.                                                                                                                                                                            Battery saver will get activated automatically

If you want to check emails, work with some text files and do some simple work, the reduction in system performance due to the power saver mode will go unnoticed in most cases. So I will better recommend you to turn on Power saver as long as your laptop is running on battery power. This will eventually help you get a better battery life with hardly any impact on the performance of your PC in most cases.

So, that’s how you can automatically enable Bower saver on a Windows 10 computer, once it starts running on battery power. Do you have any questions? Deel free to comment on the same below.
