How to disable the Bing Discover button on Microsoft Edge browser

Microsoft Edge is one of the closest competitors to Google Chrome today. Several practical features on Microsoft Edge offer its users an edge over Google Chrome, which has dominated the web space in the last decade. While several features are really useful some features are gimmicky, or unnecessary for several users. One of the recent features that Microsoft Edge has released, is the Discover button.

Microsoft introduced the features perhaps with the intention to attract more users to the Bing ecosystem and trust me if you are a part of it, you will love the Discover feature. The Bing Discover feature bakes in the power of AI to help you enjoy them with just one click. But, you might not like the feature for it popping up just by hovering over it, or for any other reasons. So, today I will talk about how to remove the Bing Discover feature on Microsoft Edge.

So, without any further delay, let’s get started with how to remove the Discover button on Bing.

Disabling the Bing Discover button on Microsoft Edge

Step 1: Open the Microsoft Edge browser and click on the triple-dot icon, and then select the ‘Settings’ option.

Open Microsoft Edge browser settings

Step 2: Now, click on the ‘Sidebar’ tab to open it, and hence click on ‘Discover’ as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 3: Under the Edge browser’s Discover Settings, you will find different options related to the Discover button. Simply disable the Discover button using the first switch that says ‘Show Discover’.

After you disable the ‘Show Discover’ button, you will no longer find the Discover button on the top-right corner of the UI as the feature is now permanently disabled.

However, by disabling the Bing Discover button, the Edge sidebar will not be available, unless it is set to be displayed every time. The Edge sidebar offers access to useful apps and services, which is a Microsoft Edge feature that gives Edge an edge. You can also add new websites as services to the sidebar, which makes the web surfing experience fabulous.

The Bing Discover feature isn’t a deal-breaker and can sometimes fetch useful results based on your usage pattern. I wish there was an option to disable the Edge Discover panel to pop up when users hover over to the button, instead of disabling it as sudden pop-ups simply disrupt the workflow.
