Haptik first automated voice ordering bots for KFC via ALexa

To introduce the AI (artificial intelligence) to food-based retail enterprises, the Haptik has developed and introduced Voice ordering bots for KFC India using Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa. This means with a help of Alexa the consumers can order their favourite chicken meal over the call.

KFC and Haptik together developed this bot for India to accelerate the food ordering process but in the conversational format. This new KFC Skill developed for Alexa helps in making order right from listing menu options, placing the order, updating on offers, to even amusing users with a chicken joke. The users just need to say  “Alexa, launch/Start KFC” to place the order.

Haptik launches automated voice ordering bots for KFC

Although the KFC has numerous outlets in 135 countries, India’s outlets are the first to receive the bot-based order placement service on any virtual assistant.

The Haptik developed Bot not only place an order by finding out the nearest KFC store but also notify about the food item availability in these restaurants in real time.

Besides the food ordering and near KFC store searching, the Bot can also crack jokes around chicken along with giving info about the founder of KFC. Simultaneously, the bot has been trained basis existing knowledge on buyer behaviour and customer preferences.

Haptik worked closely with the tech team at KFC India to ensure the backend systems and APIs are designed in a way to support a voice-first platform. The entire user journey was designed keeping voice as the native input.

Post Alexa, KFC also plans to enable voice ordering from within its own mobile app and website. The multi-channel experience offered by the Alexa Skill makes KFC India the first QSR brand to offer such a 360-degree engagement experience to customers.
