Samsung’s debut Android Go smartphone. How good is the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core?

The performance of Samsung in mid-range and entry-level smartphones is not always that impressive if compared to its competitors, mainly Xiaomi. Sometimes the performance of the budget Samsung smartphones are not that outstanding, and to make things come back on a proper track, Samsung announced its first Android Go smartphone which will be based on Android 8.0 Oreo. The Android Go is basically meant for budget smartphones with not so good hardware so that users can enjoy a decent performance even with a limited hardware. Numerous Google Go apps are available for the platform and the apps consume less RAM and storage compared to Google’s regular apps.

Peeping into Samsung Galaxy J2 Core, the first difference which you can observe is the presence of the Samsung logo. Unlike other Samsung Galaxy phones, Samsung placed its logo below the screen, which looks pretty impressive. Talking about its specs, the Galaxy J2 Core comes with the Exynos 7570 Quad-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. The 1 GB of RAM should be able to handle Android Go apps smoothly without any lags. The handset will come with 8 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 256 GB with the help of an SD card. The Samsung Galaxy J2 Core camera is 8 MP at the back, which will be capable of recording videos at 1080p. The J2 Core selfie camera is 5 MP on the other hand.

As far as connectivity is concerned, the handset comes with 4G VoLTE and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and other necessary connectivity features. If you are looking for a handset for everyday use, the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core can be a great choice. The 2600 mAh battery should easily last a day under normal usage. As far as the price and availability of the handset are concerned, it will be available in the offline stores just like the other Samsung J series models, and the pricing could be around Rs. 5,500 or so. Yes, the Samsung phones are little overpriced. Though Samsung offers a very impressive customer service, and I have no complaints about that. Thus, if you are looking for a handset that should offer a decent performance, and good customer service is your priority, the J2 Core can be the most perfect handset for you.

Though it is Samsung’s first Android Go smartphone, other companies like Micromax, Lava, Nokia has already launched their Android Go smartphones in India. Though I am not here to compare this product with other Android Go smartphones, there are other products, as well, which can offer better specifications at this or at a little higher price. The Redmi 5A, 10.or D are a few smartphones, which offer better specifications at the same or at little-elevated prices. Looking at the specs of the competitors, it is worth paying a few more pennies for getting a better hardware.

But no, the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core isn’t a bad product whatsoever. I just want Samsung to offer it at a cheaper price. If the smartphone is available at a price less than Rs. 5,000, I will definitely recommend this smartphone, as it can offer a real value for money in such a case. Well, time will show us, how great the device performs in the market.
