Asus Zenfone 3S Max is an identical brother of Asus Zenfone 3 Max (review) which was one of the most successful models of Asus Smartphones. We can say that the Asus Zenfone 3S Max is a little bit strip version of Zenfone 3 Max but with high battery capacity and latest Android 7.0( Nougat). Here you can see the specs difference between these two models: Asus Zenfone 3 Max ZC553KL vs Asus Zenfone 3s Max (ZC521TL). Let’s see the review of Asus 3S Max to see whether it is worth to become your next companion or not.
The Zenfone 3S Max has an unibody metal design with few changes as compared to Asus Zenfone 3 max. The 3S max has a physical home button that also acts as a fingerprint sensor at the front side. Also, the Zenfone 3S max become company’s first phone that features front side fingerprint sensor. In spite of physical home button, you still have to use onscreen navigation buttons for back and menu. It would great if Asus had added physical capacitive buttons. Even the camera design of 3s Max is changed and it placed at the top left corner while generally, Asus places its camera in the center. The left side of the phone has hybrid SIM card slot and power & volume keys are on the right side. The bottom side of the phone has microUSB port flanked between two speaker grills but only one has the speaker. The top side of the phone is clean with 3.5mm audio jack. Overall the phone built is very good and weigh 175 grams and right now become the lightest phones with a 5000mAh battery. The metallic shell of the phone is painted with gold color with sand finish adding rich feel and look to the device.
Asus Zenfone 3s Max sports 5.2-inch IPS display with HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The display is good and produces rich colors and excellent viewing angles. Like other ASUS other phones, this one is also given the option to filter the blue light to reduce the eyes fatigues. Even in direct sunlight, the legibility of the phone is very good but what really bothers us is the glass, which is reflective as well as works as a magnet to fingerprints and smudges.
Asus 3S Max Camera: Awesome Mobile Camera
For mobile photography, it has 13 MP PixleMaster camera with plenty of modes and settings. We test it by capturing multiple images in different light conditions and it really did well especially in daylight condition. The pictures it captured came out with lots of details and rich colors. In low light conditions, images come with grains, though LED flash helped to capture decent photos.
Using different modes, as like super resolution, HDR, beautification etc. it brings more details to the images. For photography enthusiasts, it has pro mode as well, you can customize the camera ISO, Focus and many other things to click images as per your preference. The front 8 MP camera is great for selfies and groufies. It has beautification mode as well as several other effects that will really please selfie lovers.

Asus Zenfone 3s Max Performance
Asus Zenfone 3s Max mobile is powered by 1.5 GHz octa-core processor coupled with 3GB RAM and Mali T-860MP2 GPU. It runs on Asus ZenUI 3.0 on the top latest Android 7.0 (Nougat) with the heavily customized user interface. You also get to see some new features of Android 7.0 including improved notification, split screen function, double tap recent button to go back to the previous app, revamped quick toggles and rich information showing settings menu. But we didn’t find any lag despite heavy customization. We used Asus Zenfone 3S max about 2 weeks and stuffed it with several apps and games to test the real world performance. We have played heavy graphic intensive games like Asphalt 8, NFS too but there was no heating problem or any visible lag. The speakers are placed on the bottom which is quite loud to enjoy music, games, and movies with your friends and family. The sound quality is crisp with balanced bass and treble.
Asus Zenfone 3s Max Battery Life Review: Long runner
Asus Zenfone 3s Max main USP is 5000mAh battery which is an ample amount of power. In moderate usage, it lasted for more than two days. And while playing intensive games watching movies etc. it lasted for complete one day on one full charge. In our video loop test, it lasted for 6 hours and 44 minutes while playing video over YouTube with full brightness and sound. It is the best battery phone in this price category. It also supports an OTG and can use as a power bank to charge other devices using OTG adapter.
Asus Zenfone 3S Max review Synopsis:
Under the 15K this is one the best phone with a mammoth battery size and good hardware configuration. Also at this price point, it has a camera that captures quality images with the good amount of details and rich colors. Though the screen resolution is only 720p, yet this could be the great choice if you don’t want to carry a power bank with you.
