How to get back the ‘View Image’ in Google Image search on Google Chrome

A number of netizens got frustrated with Google’s decision to remove ‘View Image’ from the Google image search results. I don’t know, why Google took this decision. But how to view Google images full screen? There is a way to get it back. At least in Google’s own Chrome. But how! I will discuss it here.

Chrome is one of the most popular browsers today. I am sure you are using Chrome. As long as you are using Chrome, you can get the ‘View Image’ with a small extension from the Chrome Web Store. So without further delay, let’s find out how to get back the “view image” button.

Activating ‘View Image’

Step 1: Go to the Chrome Store aka. Chrome Web Store.

Step 2:  Search for ‘View Image’. You will get the following app.

Step 3: Just install it. Click on ‘Add to Chrome’ to add it.

Step 4: It will take some time. Once it is done it will appear in the top right corner of the screen.

The installation is complete. There are some options to set. But I will not recommend it. The app just works fine with the default settings.

Now search for an image in Google. Go to ‘Images’. Select an image. Now the ‘View Image’ will be visible to you. Yes, the usual and old way to view images on Google.

You can click on the button to open the full image in a new tab.

Though you can even right click on an image and select ‘Open image in new tab’. The image will be opened in a new tab. It might not load the full image every time, but it can at least be better than the small thumbnail like a view.

The app is presently available only for Chrome. The same can be available on other browsers like Firefox, in the future.

The source code for the app is also available on Google View Image GitHub. Thus, the app is open source as of now. It can further be modified to offer the same feature in other popular browsers.

If any such option becomes available, I will surely cover it. Hope the information was helpful to you. Faced any issues? Let me know about it in the comment section down below.
