Redmi 6 Pro, another budget smartphone by the Xiaomi for Indian users

Redmi 6 Pro is going to be yet another budget device by India’s number one smartphone brand. But the biggest highlight for this product this time is the notch. It is the Xiaomi’s first budget smartphone featuring a notch, which is only found on premium handsets and premium mid-rangers in 2018. Though the notch will be the biggest highlight that is not the only reason to purchase the product. Just like other Redmi phones, the Redmi 6 is also going to come with value for money specifications.

Let’s first have a look at the camera of this product. The Redmi 6 Pro comes with dual rear camera setup of 12 MP and 5 MP with EIS, and the front camera will be of 5 MP. The primary camera’s video recording capability though is clipped to 1080p at 30 frames per second. If we keep the camera quality out of the picture at this moment, the camera of the Redmi 6 Pro is not something outstanding if compared to other Xiaomi devices.

The device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, which is an octa-core processor, and comes with three RAM and internal memory variants, 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage, 4 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage and 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. Though it will come with a notch, it will also have bezels at the top and bottom, where the screen size will be 5.84 inches with almost 79.5% screen to body ratio. The device will have a 1080×2280 pixels resolution with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, and MUI 9.0 will run on the top of it. The 19:9 aspect ratio is another highlight for this product.

The device will be powered by a 4000 mAh battery, and the availability of fast charging is not yet known. That is the complete package of the Redmi 6 Pro. Having a look at the pricing, the 3GB RAM variant will be available in China at 999 Yuan, and the 4 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage variant will be available at 1299 Yuan. Converting the value blindly to Indian currency, it comes out to be Rs. 10,500 and Rs. 13,550 respectively. But the actual prices will no doubt be a little higher.

Though not yet available in India, I am sure it will be available in India shortly after the launch. If you are mad for a notch you can go for this product. But the Redmi Note 5 Pro seems to be a better choice. Both the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Redmi 6 Pro will be available at similar prices and if you are looking for a better SoC, camera and an overall better package, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is a better alternative among the two.
