MediaTek showcased 5G baseband Helio M70 chipset

The 5G era has arrived, and for 5G mobile phones, the most important thing is the baseband. Qualcomm, Huawei, Intel, etc. have already launched their own platforms, and each has its own characteristics. Recently, MediaTek, showcased its own 5G baseband, model Helio M70.

MediaTek announced the Helio M70 at the Taipei Computer Show in early June this year. The prototype was first exhibited in September. Recently, it finally officially showed it and announced the details of the 5G baseband.

MediaTek Helio M70 (MT6297) is manufactured by TSMC 7nm process. It is a 5G multi-mode integrated baseband and supports 2G/3G/4G/5G. It supports multiple 4G bands and simplifies the terminal design. Combined with the overall planning of power management, power consumption can be greatly reduced.

It not only supports 5G NR (new air interface), including the most common N41, N78, N79 frequency bands, but also supports independent networking (SA), non-independent networking (NSA) , supporting bands below 6GHz, high-power terminals ( HPUE) and other 5G key technologies are compliant with the latest 3GPP Release 15 specifications and have transmission rates up to 5 Gbps.

It is worth noting that it is currently the only 5G baseband that supports 4G LTE and 5G dual connectivity (EN-DC) technology.

At present, MediaTek is cooperating with industry giants such as Nokia, Huawei, other Chinese mobile and Japan NTT Docomo to promote 5G standards and commercial use.

MediaTek’s Helio M70 5G baseband is currently in the sample testing phase, but will not be shipped until the second half of next year , so that you want to see MediaTek’s 5G platform mobile phone in 2020. While in India the government said, we will become a 5G nation by 2022 and TRAI has already suggested 3300-3600 MHz frequency range for 5G to the Govt.
