Apple iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max & iPhone Xr launched: Things to know about them

Google is about to reveal its already revealed smartphone pixel 3 & 3 XL in October 2018, whereas yesterday, the Apple has released its new flagship smartphones in the third quarter of the year based on the appearance of the earlier this year released iPhone X.  The models launched at the Yesterday event were iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, and iPhone XR.

As Apple CEO Tim Cook announced at an event at the Steve Jobs Theather headquarters in Cupertino, California, there will be two new top models this year, with the iPhone Xr also offering a new, more affordable version

The iPhone Xs and XS Max new top models of Apple come in 5.8 and 6.5 inches large displays, respectively. Performance and technology are of course also redrilled with the new models.

The iPhone Xs is the smaller of the two models and represents an evolution of its predecessor. The model has a 5.8-inch display with a nowadays common buddy of phones- “Notch” at the top, the resolution of 2436 x 1125 inches is specified.

Apple iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max

The iPhone Xs Max is the largest and heaviest smartphone of Apple has released to date. The device gets a 6.5-inch display with 2688 x 1242 pixels and brings the pixel density of at least 458 pixels per inch. Both iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max support “Tap To Wake”, ie waking the screen with a double tap. In addition, a high touch sensitivity, which is achieved by a refresh rate of 120 Hertz. Dolby Vision and HDR10 are also supported. Apple promises, among other things, a 60 percent increase in dynamic range, so that the screen images should be even better and more appealing than before. 3D touch is also supported.

Apple A12 Bionic  7 nanometers SoC

Under the hood is the Apple A12 Bionic there is an ARM processor with six cores. The chip integrates four low- power, low-end and two high-performance cores. A12 Bionic 7nm chip has 6.9 billion transistors and 2 large cores save 40% of power consumption with 15% performance increment than its predecessor iPhone X and its Apple A11 Bionic. At the same time, energy efficiency increased by up to 50 percent. The A12 Bionic’s new 8 cores neural network engine can perform 5 trillion operations per second.

The memory of the new iPhone top models is in four variants and thus grows slightly compared to the previous models. In addition to the low-end models with 64 GB and 256 GB and the first time, the 512 GB of internal memory is also available for iPhone.

At the same time, iPhone XS & iPhone XS Max has the solid glass panel to date, surgical grade stainless steel frame, IP68 waterproof claimed by the Apple. The colors are gold, deep gray and silver; the capacity specifications are 64GB, 256GB, 512GB; support wireless charging, charging speed is faster than iPhone X (standard charging head specification is still “ancestral” 5W 1A);

Also in terms of audio quality, the two new iPhone models come up with improvements. Apple promised, among other things, a “wider stereo sound”, which is to be output via the two speakers at the top and bottom of the device. As mentioned, the “notch” is preserved at the top. There, the same technology sits around a so-called vertical surface emitting a laser and a series of sensors that cover the user’s face with a variety of infrared laser points and thus allow the analysis of a calculated therefrom 3D model for detecting the user.

Dual camera 12MP

In terms of camera, Apple has made only cautious changes to the new iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max. The company continues to install two rear-facing cameras, which are again arranged vertically. This is the first time that a flash composed of four LEDs has been integrated, which again sits in the same familiar position between the two lenses.

The main camera of the iPhone Xs and Xs Max uses a 1.4-micron, 12-megapixel sensor with an F / 1.8 aperture. It has “of course” an optical image stabilizer, which implemented in hardware. The second camera has a telescopic lens with F / 2.4 aperture and 12 megapixels.  The front camera uses a new, “faster” 7-megapixel sensor, which has an F / 2.2 aperture. One of the most important innovations in the front camera is the introduction of the computational photography that also implemented by Google with the Pixel series. The improved software allows the front camera, for example, to change the aperture after taking the photo, so that the depth of field can be adjusted to produce different effects.

Apple iPhone XR

The iPhone XR is a 6.1-inch device with Liquid retina display (LCD); IP67 waterproof; capacity specifications are 64GB, 128GB, 256GB; red special edition, yellow, white, coral, black, blue six colors.

It has single lens 12MP rear camera ƒ/1.8 wide-angle lens along Portrait mode & Depth Control. The camera has 2x faster sensor than before and supports 4K video up to 60 fps.

Dual SIM and eSIM support – Dual SIM but only for China

For the first time, Apple installed a special SIM card slot, which can be equipped with two SIMs. In this way, the user can use cheaper local rates when traveling with a second SIM or simply use his company SIM and a private SIM at the same time.

But there is a catch the iPhone now supports the eSIM technology for the first time, the support for two physical SIM cards is expressly only introduced in China (iPhone Xs Max only). However, theoretically the rest of the world also got the Dual SIM capable iPhone in the form of eSIM, but still, most of the developing regions don’t support the eSIM network technology. Although it is a good step from the Apple to embrace the future technology.
