Apply DRDO Scholarship Scheme for Girls- Closing Date 30 Sep 2020

Recently, DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) announced the 2020 scholarship scheme for girls. It offers through Aeronautics Research and Development Board (AR&DB), DRDO HQ, and will be conducted by RAC (Recruitment and Assessment Centre). As per the public notification, the launched DRDO Scholarship Scheme will cover Girls who are in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Space, & Rocketry, Avionics, and Aircraft engineering.

Last date for submitting online application:

RAC started taking submission of applications since 19 July 2020 and it will go on till 30th September 2020 which is the last date of submission.

Who is qualified to apply for DRDO Scholarship for Girls scheme?

All the female engineering students of 2020-2021 batch in the first year of their full time four year of BE/B.TECH degree course and those are in the first year of their Post Graduation of full-time two years M.TECH/ME degree course in the following subjects are eligible for this 2020 scholarship.

  • Aerospace Engg
  • Aeronautical Engg
  • Space Engg & Rocketry
  • Avionics
  • Aircraft Engg

Eligibility criteria and amount of scholarship details:

There are two parts of scholarship one is meant for students those in the first year of their graduation and other for post-graduation one. Let’s see the details for both:

Under graduation (BE/ B.TECH/ B.Sc. Engg) criteria:

The number of scholarships available under this level is 20 only. This means hundreds of students will compete and out of them, only the eligible twenty students will get Rs.120000 / year or annual fees whichever is less for a maximum period of four years.

Furthermore, the Student (candidate) must hold Indian nationality and have got admission in the year 2020-21 in the B.E, B. Tech, or B.Sc Engg course.  He or She also ought to be one who has cleared JEE (Main) and must have a valid JEE (Main) score.

Post Graduate (ME/ M.TECH/ M.Sc Engg) scholarship eligibility criteria:

Candidates those are in their PG program can also apply for it and the number of scholarship available for it is only 10 (ten). After the RAC scrutiny, the selected Girls or Women students under this DRDO scholarship scheme will get an amount of Rs.15500/- per month subject to Rs.186000/- per year for a maximum period of two years.

Just like the UG, the PG applicants must be in their first year of course of the current academic year (2020-21) in ME, M.TECH or
M.Sc Engg course. Apart from it, they should have scored at least 60% marks in their graduation level: BE/B Tech/B Engg. or equivalent, although it would have by the candidate as it is mandatory by the guidelines of  AICTE/MHRD for getting admission in the subject courses aforementioned.

In cases where the conversion formula is not obtainable, CGPA/CPI of 6.75 (for a 10 point scale) will be taken as equivalent to 60%, as per AICTE guidelines. Furthermore, the Candidate should have a valid GATE  (General Aptitude Test in Engineering) score.

Apart from all this he/she must be an Indian national.

Also as per the DRDO Scholarship for Girls 2020 notification: Students pursuing a dual degree course / integrated master degree in the above-mentioned subjects may also apply/receive this scholarship only for the first four years as applicable for the B.Tech degree course under the above scheme, subject to fulfilling the eligibility requirements.

 

Conditions of Scholarship:

  • Once the scholarship is discontinued to a candidate it will not be granted further, in spite of qualifying the
    eligibility in the later years.
  • Students availing this scholarship will be entitled to avail only one scholarship at a time and an undertaking has to be furnished by the students and it should be countersigned by the institute that she is not availing any other scholarship from any other institute/department/agency.
