Yuanta Securities analyst Jeff Pu said in a recent research report that the next generation of iPhones in the second half of the next year 2019 will have three rear-facing cameras, similar to the current Huawei P20 Pro.
However, the analyst did not give any specific details but it rumored that the name of 2019 iPhone would be iPhone X Plus.
Before that, there was news from Taipei Times that the iPhone’s three cameras would have 6-piece lenses with a maximum 5x zoom, and at least one of them would be 12 MP.
With the help of the third camera, the iPhone is expected to support 3x optical zoom for the first time in history. The current iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 7 Plus are all 2x optical zooms.
In addition, the triple camera may be limited to the highest-end iPhone model as a killer feature.
iDropNews also imagines all possible layouts of the three cameras on the iPhone, all vertically aligned, but there are possibilities for how to arrange the positions, including where the flash is placed.
Here is the text mentioned by the Tapai times in which they have quoted, what Jeff Pu said:
Pu said Huawei Technologies Co is expected to drive triple-camera lens adoption by introducing a lower-spec device for the Mate 20 model, while Apple is likely to launch a new iPhone model with a triple-lens rear camera in the second half of next year.
