Toshiba Electronic Components Taiwan Corporation announced the launch of the MN07 series of mechanical hard drives with capacities of 12TB and 14TB, 3.5-inch discs.
This series of hard drives are mainly for NAS appliances (8+ bays), providing 1 million hours of trouble-free time, 7×24 hours of power-on operation, and an annual write capacity of 180TB.
In terms of specifications, the Toshiba MN07 is packaged in a 9-disc package, which is 55% more energy efficient than the traditional 10TB 7200-rpm drive.
Features include vibration compensation, Advanced Format (AF) 512e sectors,
Toshiba MB07 started sample shipment today, and more information has not yet been released.

Toshiba’s exclusive 9-disk, helium-sealed mechanics deliver real value to OEMs and integrators of file- and object- storage solutions who utilize proven network-attached storage technologies,” said Takayoshi Tokushima, Director of Storage Products Marketing Group at Toshiba Electronic Components Taiwan Corporation. “MN07 Series models include RV compensation technology for optimal performance in multi-disk NAS enclosures and are designed for robust 24/7 operation up to 300,000 load/unload cycles.”
