How to resize Start menu on a Windows 10 computer to use it effectively

The good old start menu on our Windows computer has gone through a massive overhaul starting from Windows XP. In the next versions of Windows, it was possible to search directly from the start menu and people have also criticized the unavailability of the start menu on Windows 8 and the full-screen start menu on Windows 8.1. But, Windows 10 also has a start menu, which is a lot different from the start menu that was there on Windows XP, 7, and earlier versions of Windows, and it also offers a number of extra features that can be useful for most users in the current decade. It brings the best of both worlds. On the Windows 10 start menu, you can see the weather, trending news, and everything else which is pretty cool. 

Additionally, just like the previous versions of Windows, you can also pin programs and other elements to the start menu which is also useful. But one thing that is completely new on Windows 10 if the ability to resize the start menu. If you can remember, it was never possible to resize the start menu on the previous versions of Windows, however, it was only possible to increase the height of the start menu by adding more programs to the menu. Click on the start menu item to open it and once the start menu opens up, you can resize it horizontally, vertically, and diagonally.

If you want to resize the start menu vertically just move the mouse pointer to the top of the start menu, and you will get the pointer changed to a vertical arrow and you can move the mouse vertically up and down to resize the start menu.

If you want to resize the start menu horizontally take the mouse pointer to the right side of your start menu, and the mouse pointer will change to a horizontal resizing arrow and you can move the mouse left and right to resize the start menu horizontally.

If you want to resize the start menu both vertically and horizontally take the mouse pointer to the top right corner of the start menu, and the mouse pointer will change to a diagonal arrow, and you can move the mouse pointer diagonally to resize the start menu.

Increase Size of Windows 10 start menu

Here is how I have resized by start menu to accommodate all the useful programs and other elements that I use. This is just for illustration, however, you can make the start menu more productive as per your requirements.

Well, there is a maximum limit on how much you can resize the start menu. You cannot make the area of the start menu area bigger than a certain limit, and cannot reduce it below a threshold. If you have a number of elements on the start menu, the ability to resize the size and area of the start menu can definitely come in handy for you. That way you will never have to scroll to find the most useful app and elements within the start menu.
